Exceptional North Carolina studio pottery lidded vessel, hand-thrown and signed by what appears to be the artist “Curt,” circa 1980s–1990s. This sculptural piece showcases the creative energy of the state’s modern craft revival period, when potters blended traditional wheel-thrown forms with symbolic, handmade adornments. The lid features three stylized human figures, each topped with a polished black agate stone, symbolizing unity and grounding—a hallmark of regional studio work influenced by Penland School of Craft and Seagrove artisans. Finished in a layered glaze of plum, iron, and ash tones, the pot reflects both artistic experimentation and North Carolina’s rich clay heritage. Measures approximately 9" high with lid (5" without) and 7.75" wide.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear; no cracks or repairs noted.
